Self-Regulation with Accreditation
The 17th International Accreditation conference conference 2024 concluded with the main take away that there is still time to save the earth from the environmental catastrophe we have subjected our fragile planet too. It is interesting to note that everyone are on the same page be it Heads of State, Corporations both multinational and traditional, small industry, entrepreneurs, Academia, the students and the wider Society. There is a clear understanding of the scale of the disaster that has befallen the nations. The two-day IAC-2024, themed "Social Impact Focus on Building Leadership in an ESG-led World," had created an opportunity to exchange transformative ideas on leadership and sustainability.
The nearly 40 speakers from the world of Accreditation, industry, the social activists, the academic leaders who spoke at the convention were almost unanimous that action at all levels needs to be taken to ensure Social Impact should be seen and felt of such actions especially at the campuses where the future leaders are minted. Dr Madhu Chitkara pro Chancellor of the host university Chitkara provided the impetus by calling everyone to action.
We had run "100 by 2015" campaign to encourage Indian business schools to understand the value of becoming members of international accreditation. The target was met!
The second campaign was "100 by 2020" to encourage B-schools this time tp complete their accreditation process. Once again this target was fulfilled.
Since then we have focused our energy to showcase aspects like Sustainable Development Gloals SDGs in preparing the students to make impact on society. The current conference concluded last evening had the theme "social impact focus on developing leaders for an ESG led world" There were 38 speakers, seven accreditation systems, several from corporate world.
Two books, one a conference boom entitled " How Do I save the World- ESG
A Solution or Delusion" sponsored by the Chitkara University and another "Handbook on Accreditation 2024" sponsored by Indus Business Academy (IBA) were released at the conference.
The International Accreditation systems with which we are associated with the past 16 years were at the convention in full strength with the AACSB's Director Member services, Dr Amy Memon providing the first push by taking up Social Impact aspect of International Accreditation done by their organisation The theme continued right through the two days of the conference with the EFMD's Nishit Jain, special advisor Network & Asia, AMBA-BGA's Director Accreditation Mark Stoddard, , ACBSP's Dr Nandagopal, , IACBE's Dr V J Byra Reddy, SAQS showcasing their own take on how accreditaiton agencies are helping the campuses to adhere to the social ipact causing norms set by global green governance bodies including the United Nations Global Compact. how the future is to be shaped.

The Chitkara University Punjab campus in which the conference was held itself proved to be a great place for such a battle to begin as the University has already set very high standards to ensure that the everything is done to create Social Impact at the campus.
